Digital Rehab

Training program

Unlock vast amounts of productivity by changing your organization’s email behavior.

The potential is EUR 4.2M per 1,000 employees!

During the last decade we have been working with a large number of organizations and observed how employees and managers have become addicted to their use of emails. We have met stressed and burned out employees who feel enslaved by their inbox and we know the kind of impact it has on productivity.

Imagine the potential we could release if we could change this pattern!

Well, we can actually — and that’s the entire purpose of Digital Rehab.

emails per employee per day
64seconds to return to work after being interrupted by an e-mail *
30minutes of improvement potential per day per employee
11hours of improvement potential per month per employee
332EUR a month per employee (average monthly pay = thousand )
3,982EUR a year per employee
number of employees
3,982,222EUR in improvement potential a year!

* Breaking Bad Habits: The Negative Effect of Email and Instant Messaging on the Workplace. Research by Dr. Thomas Jackson, Ray Dawson, and Darren Wilson from Loughborough University UK

What’s the purpose?

  • to make our professional lives easier, more fun and less stressful and thereby increase productivity
  • to create “space” for the things that really add value - energy and focus on your customers, innovation and reflection
  • to reduce the number of burned out and stressed employees

In other words we wish to “rehabilitate” those of us who have developed an addiction to our inboxes by teaching a new and improved digital behavior.

Digital Rehab is a modular learning program that builds on classroom training, one-on-one coaching as well as learning and knowledge sharing via an online community. This blend makes Digital Rehab unique, ensures fast learning and prevents relapse.

The program takes 20 hours spread over 8 weeks for each participant to complete — 20 effective hours where each participant learns whilst performing actual work.

The program scales!

Each class consists of 20 participants and new classes can be launched in parallel. For instance it will take 17 weeks to complete courses for 200 participants. All aspects of the program can be executed in virtual sessions via online services.

Employees who completed the Digital Rehab program…

  • will no longer feel that the majority of their working hours are spent reading and responding to emails.
  • will be able to save between 20-30 minutes a day as a result of new and improved email habits.
  • will feel less stressed because they learn how to prioritize and focus on what's important
  • can welcome the weekend with an empty inbox.

  • Class room seminar (Week 1)

6 hour duration with the purpose of teaching the key methods and techniques for changing email behavior and routines.
  • Individual follow-up (Week 3)

2 hour duration where each participant is coached on how to implement and work with the new tools and techniques.
  • Home assignment (Ongoing)

The participants are working with exercises during the entire program to secure the anchoring of the new behavior. Feedback and evaluation is provided via the online community.
  • Workshop (Week 4)

2 hour duration with the purpose of refining and developing the methods and techniques taught earlier. The workshop is performed as an online “webcast”.
  • Weekly follow-up (Week 5, 6, 7)

Weekly follow-up on home assignments and progress. The follow-up is performed in an online “meeting room”.
  • Program End (Week 8)

At the end of the program each participant receives a 20 minute feedback and a plan for further development. The team leader is further given a 1 hour general feedback on overall team results.

Anchoring and sharing knowledge

An online community platform is available for the participants and the coach throughout the program. This means that participants can learn collectively from each other by sharing experiences, providing good advice etc. It also allows participants to share knowledge across the organization and across classes - this reinforces learning and the adoption of a new and improved email behavior going forward.
